Вулкан Питон-де-ла-Фурнез, остров Реюньон/ Vulcan Piton-de-la-Furnez, Reunion Island

Вулкан Питон-де-ла-Фурнез (Piton de la Fournaise) — один из самых активных из всех ныне действующих вулканов. Он расположен в Индийском океане, на острове Реюньон, входящем в состав Маскаренских островов (район между Мадагаскаром и Маврикий).

Реюньон – территория Франции, отсюда и французское название вулкана, являющегося, кстати говоря, главным символом неофициального флага острова. Piton de la Fournaise — в переводе на русский означает «Пик Печь», «Пик Очаг» или «Вершина печи»; местные жители называют его и того проще – Вулкан.
Питон-де-ла-Фурнез был образован в результате неоднократных излияний жидкой лавы. Как и все вулканы щитового типа, он имеет характерную форму щита с кратером на вершине. Последняя представляет собой кальдеру – циркообразную впадину – диаметром около 8 км. Высота вулкана составляет 2631 метр.
С начала XVIII века вулкан извергался более 150 раз. Последняя активность пришлась на конец 2008 – начало 2009 года и конец 2009 – начало 2010. Сложно представить, сколько всего извержений «выдал» Питон-де-ла-Фурнез с момента своего образования более 500 тысяч лет назад. Одно время вулкан извергался вместе со своим старшим «собратом», ныне потухшим, Питон-дес-Нежем.
Как правило, вулкан выбрасывает лаву в районе кальдеры, но случается, что она вытекает и с его склонов. Восточный склон Питон-де-ла-Фурнеза и вовсе проломлен мощным потоком лавы, обычно стремящейся в сторону близлежащего моря.
Забраться на вулкан несложно, но опытные туристы знают: увидеть истинную красоту этого гиганта можно только с его подножия.

 Vulcan Piton-de-la-Furnez (Piton de la Fournaise) — one of the most active of all current volcanoes. It is located in the Indian Ocean, on Reunion Island which is a part of the Mascarene Islands (the area between Madagascar and Mauritius).

Reunion – the territory of France, from here and the French name of the volcano which is, by the way, the main symbol of an informal flag of the island. Piton de la Fournaise — in translation into Russian means "Peak to Bake", "Peak the Center" or "Furnace top"; locals call it and it is simpler than that – the Volcano.

Piton-de-la-Furnez was formed as a result of numerous outpourings of a liquid lava. As well as all volcanoes of panel board type, it has a characteristic form of a board with a crater at top. The last represents a caldera – a tsirkoobrazny hollow – with a diameter about 8 km. Height of a volcano makes 2631 meters.

Since the beginning of the XVIII century the volcano was thrown up more than 150 times. The last activity fell on the end 2008 – the beginning of 2009 and the end 2009 – the beginning 2010. It is difficult to present, how many all of eruptions "gave out" Piton-de-la-Furnez from the moment of the education more than 500 thousand years ago. At one time the volcano was thrown up together with senior "colleague", nowadays extinct, Piton-des-Nezhem.

As a rule, the volcano throws out a lava around a caldera, but happens that it follows and from its slopes. East slope of Piton-de-la-Furneza is broken by a powerful stream of the lava which is usually aspiring towards the nearby sea at all.

Simply to get on a volcano, but skilled tourists know: it is possible to see true beauty of this giant only from its bottom.
