Chan Chan represents the ancient royal city built 700 years ago from not burned clay. In due time it was the largest cultural center located in a convenient strategic place. Talented chinuk erected 15-meter walls protecting the territory from winds and attacks of the enemy round Chan Chan. On walls the sea deities esteemed by chinuka having a form of fishes are represented. Still fragments of magnificent palace architecture from the crude clay brick decorated with persistent openings remained. In the fifteenth century, by means of military cunning, the city was won by the monks seeking to broaden the empire.
