С высоты птичьего полета мост похож на гигантскую убегающую змею. Он то выгибается, то опускается вниз и тихо стелется по воде, то вдруг снова круто поворачивает. Если правильно выбрать точку, можно увидеть знаменитую оптическую иллюзию Сторсесундетского моста.
Точно видно, что дорога внезапно обрывается над морем. Но на самом деле это не так — дальше начинается 23 метровый спуск. Самое «то» для любителей экстремальной езды. Только на этом участке сердце замирает и отмирает несколько раз. Даже если знаешь, что дорога дальше есть, и ты не упадешь с обрыва – ощущение мурашек все равно присутствует. Не дорога, а аттракцион американских горок.
Местные жители дали мосту прозвище – пьяный. И действительно, он петляет от одного островка до другого, словно опираясь или заваливаясь на них.
Мост соединяет остров Аверой и Ромсдаль на материке. С начала 20 века и до самого конца 80 годов здесь курсировал паром. Автомобильный мост появился только в 1989г. Инженеры долго работали над возможностью построить здесь железную дорогу или мост. Для этого нужно было учесть все особенности слабых грунтов на малых островках. Вначале мост планировали сделать прямым и вытянуть его горизонтальной линией, но, в конце концов, утвердили необычную новаторскую идею имитации американских горок.
Такие большие взлеты позволяют судам проходить под мостом, а сама конструкция кажется легкой и почти невесомой лентой. Начиная с 1999г. мост дополнили смотровыми площадками. Они привлекают внимание туристов, фотографов и рыбаков. Отсюда прекрасный вид на горы и море. В 2005г. Сторсесундетский мост назвали сооружением столетия.

They draw attention of tourists, photographers and fishermen. From here beautiful view of mountains and sea. In 2005 Storsesundetsky Bridge was called a construction of century.
